What to Know

Some tire problems are avoidable. Let us help you monitor the air pressure and tread depth to head off the problems you can. If you operate your vehicle with low PSI in the long term, your tires are more likely to overheat. That, in turn, may cause the tire to begin separating at the bead where the tread pattern and sidewall meet. Operating over time with more than the recommended air pressure causes extra wear in the center of the tread pattern. You’ll likely need to purchase new tires sooner than you had planned. Additionally, it’s not safe to use tires once the tread wears beyond a safe depth. Thin tread can compromise traction, particularly on wet pavement. Other trouble, however, is unavoidable. Sometimes, you encounter road hazards that leave you with a flat. When this happens, we’re happy to take a look to see if your tire is a candidate for repair. Some general rules apply to safe repair. It shouldn’t be fixed if the tire is in poor condition, such as having little remaining tread or cracked sidewalls. Likewise, we can’t repair it if you’ve driven on the flat. Size and place matter, too. Suppose the tire has a puncture of a quarter inch within the tread pattern. In that case, we may be able to correct the situation. However, larger punctures, cuts, or those along the sidewalls aren’t safe to repair. Should the situation warrant a new tire purchase, we sell multiple major brands, offering plenty of selections.
